Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by a Book

Happy Twinsie Tuesday! For this week's "inspired by a book" theme I had this whole nail art thing I wanted to do, and then reality said, "Dude. You are getting on a plane in less than a day. You just finished reading the book for the eleventy jillionth time, and your dreamy, new polish is sitting right here. Save the nail art, and embrace the pretty." And oh my gosh, the pretty!!

Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum swatch

Unmistakably inspired by Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, this is Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum. It's a yogurt, a white, jelly/crelly base teeming with sprinkles of teeny, darker blue glitter and medium glitters in the prettiest shade of teal-tinted aqua blue. And in case that's not quite enough, the aqua glitters also flare holographic in the light (a feature my camera decided to overlook, but you can see one little glitter that could, in the photo above, for a hint of the sparkle that was peeking through the milky base).

If you go by the book alone, you might expect a little more silver in this beautiful concoction, but when you add the movie to the mix, it's a wonderfully fitting tribute to the Expecto Patronum spell and to the patronus, the protector it conjures to drive the Dementors away...

Prisoner of Azkaban is probably my favourite book in a series that continues to captivate me, no matter how many times I read it. I was nervous about getting my hopes up too high for Expecto Patronum, given how many extra coats I always seem to need with a lot of polishes, but it went on so smoothly and easily, and three coats gave me wonderful coverage. Just two will be great for a lot of people. So, super pretty and a good formula too!

I just recently ordered Expecto Patronum and some other great yogurts from Dollish Polish. For more book-inspired nails, please check out some of my fellow Twinsies' blogs, and if you haven't read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, omigosh, doooo eeeet! Seriously, that "eleventy jillion" is only a slight exaggeration.
