Twinsie Tuesday: Go-To Polish

Ooh, I like this theme! This week for Twinsie Tuesday we're doing our "go-to" polish, and for me that's easily OPI Just Spotted the Lizard.

OPI Just Spotted the Lizard is one of a host of dupes released in the wake of the celebrated Chanel Peridot. Despite having JSTL and loving it, I still couldn't resist having Peridot as well, and with Chanel's fabulous formula I can honestly say I'm happy to have them both. The OPI has a great formula too, though, I'm happy to say, and since I snapped up three bottles of it for the price of the Peridot...plus a China Glaze dupe and a potential by Sally Hansen...seriously, I think I have a "peridot" problem... I like to save the Chanel and reach for the OPI.

If you're unfamiliar, Just Spotted the Lizard (like Peridot, etc.) is a duochrome/multichrome polish, meaning that it appears to shift colours, depending on the light. JSTL is predominantly gold--a light, weathered gold--that also shifts into shades of brass, green, and turquoise/teal. Unfortunately I didn't catch much of the turquoise shift here, but in softer lighting it's just beautiful.

These colours and the awesome shifting effect are stunning without being showy, and that's why I reach for this one as my go-to. It's different and it's fun, and it's great at a party. But it's also refined enough to sit quietly and act like a grown-up when it has to...which is a feat I find extremely impressive in a nail polish, given I'm only marginally successful at myself on the best of days.

When I don't have any time for nail art, when I want my nails to look special but don't want them to be showy, I absolutely hit up OPI Just Spotted the Lizard. In fact, I took these pics last week, trying to work a little bit ahead, and I'm already wearing it again right now for a dinner date...and considering the hungry bear growls emanating from Husband's office I'm thinking it's just about time to shake a leg... Later, taters!

Looking forward to seeing some more go-to polish picks!

  1. This looks perfect on you. I have the Catrice dupe (Genius in a bottle) but honestly it just doesn't look as good on me.

  7. This color is one of my favorites, a go-to polish for me as well, although I have it in China Glaze Rare and Radiant, and Color Club Editorial. Just a stunning color.
