Saran Wrap Holographic

I've had a little fun recently trying out some nail art with holographic polishes. First I had a go at some all-holo flower nail art, and I loved how it turned out. Next I grabbed some more shades for a saran wrap manicure, holo style!

Love, love, love, love, LOVE this look! Starting with a base of butter LONDON Trustafarian, I used wadded up bits of Glad Cling Wrap to apply dabs of several polishes, including Color Club Over the Moon (have I not swatched that one before? le gasp!), Cirque Lonesome George, a-England Fated Prince, and non-holos Max Factor Deep Mauve and SpaRitual Golden Gleam.

For a planning process that didn't go any deeper than "grab bottles, go to town" I honestly couldn't be happier with how this turned out. The colours meshed surprisingly well; they're beautifully bright without competing for attention. And while I ended up deciding to top coat, which always diminishes the rainbow flare you get from holographic polishes, there's so much colour and shimmer to these that the small loss in holo was no problem at all.

I'm scheduling this post--and quite a few others--ahead of time because I'm heading to the US for a month with family, and I can't even tell you how much I'm looking forward to it! If you've read my blog for a while you might remember that travel practically guarantees me some fairly traumatic nail breakage in the month ahead, but I'm starting to think about what to do with my nails for the trip, and this may just be the look I go back to while I'm on the road. It'll go with tons of different things, and it's cute without being overly flashy and stuff...at least, not for me... Gah, now I've started listing all the other things I have to do before I head out, and once again I've officially hit PANIC MODE, ENGAGE!

I'll still be posting--and hopefully be around a bit too, depending on whether my dad decides to take the Internet with him (long story ;p). In the meantime, I hope everyone has a fantastic few weeks!
