Thanks to Shimmer, I have another lovely glitter to share today--this is Shimmer Polish Astrid!
Astrid is described on its page at Shimmer as an "amethyst opal" glitter, which could not be more spot on. I also have to echo Amanda of Amandalandish, who compared it to a fairy sneeze. Lavender and purple, rosy pink, sea-mint green, and palest blue, it's
an iridescent rainbow with so much more twinkle and sparkle than I was
able to capture on camera.
The pastel glitters in Shimmer Polish Astrid are also semi-translucent, so they act a bit like flakies, reflecting and refracting, colours changing tone and depth, depending on what you wear with them. To illustrate this, I decided to do a gradient of purples, using soft, lavender Essie Bangle Jangle and the darker, dustier Essie Smokin' Hot. To see the colours go even deeper, you can also peek at Amanda's post, where she swatched Astrid over black with awesome results.
I really do like the versatility of Astrid--softly pastel or rich and jewel-toned, depending on its base--and the formula was just what I expect from Shimmer Polish, which is to say that it spreads easily and well, with excellent glitter density and coverage.
Shimmer Polish is available at several places online, including Etsy, Dazzle, and Shimmer's own website, shimmyshimmer.com. (Ooh, just noticed when I checked the links--Presidents'/Valentine's sale at the Etsy shop until Feb. 17!)
