Another polish I'm swatching for Dazzled, and it's another polish I've just fallen for. I can't pretend that surprises me, though, because it was on my wish list for quite a while; this is a-England Ascalon.
a-England Ascalon is a gorgeous gunmetal grey with a subtly holographic shimmer and highlights of lavender (which is shy but catchable on camera) and green (which fled utterly in the face of picture time). Actually it might be more correct to call it a steel grey, since it's part of the The Legend collection; "Ascalon" is the name of the sword with which Saint George is said to have slain the dragon. Yay, learnings!
The formula on Ascalon is unsurpsingly awesome. Typical a-England smoothness and easy application. Nice coverage in one coat, good opacity in two. Three shown here because I couldn't stop myself, and the drying time was decent as well.
This is a beautifully shimmering polish, and while there is a lovely touch of scattered holo to it, it stays subtle, making it a nice compliment to the lavender highlights, which, are they duochrome as well? Seriously, what isn't happening in this polish? Yet for all the elements in play, none of them pulls too much focus or comes on too strong.
a-England Ascalon is a complex balancing act that's all the more effective for its restraint. Refined yet sparkling and backed by its fantastic formula, it's further proof that I need a whole lot more a-England in my life.
Listed on a-England's website as a "Where to Buy," Dazzled ships internationally and continues to have a number of their polishes on sale right now, 10-20% off. Did My Nails readers can use the discount code dmn10 to get another 10% off through October 17th!
