March is already here, and spring is coming! Boo and hiss to the return of high humidity and heat. But yay for pretty, springtime colours! I've never been one to care much (or, y'know, at all...) about whether my colours are seasonally appropriate, but the coming of spring has definitely put me in the mood for some of the soft, bright shades that come back "in" this time of year.
This is Orly Green Apple, and is that a perfect name or what? This crisp, fresh green makes me think of crunching into a tart, sweet apple. But while apples are more of an autumn thing, this bright, Granny Smith shade also reminds me of all the new little buds and shoots that come out in spring.
Here I'm wearing 2-3 coats of Orly Green Apple with a top coat of Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine. I've read good things about Green Apple's formula, so I'm thinking my bottle wasn't from a great batch. It built to opacity very easily without running. There was some cuticle pulling, but it was less than I expect from polishes with this much yellow. However, it had little to no interest in self-leveling, so getting an even application was a bit of a challenge. Rushing my top coat smoothed things out nicely, though, and any fussiness was well worth it for this gorgeous, creamy colour.
I really can't say enough about how in love I am with this green! It's so vibrant, too bold to be pastel but firmly light green without going lime or neon, and totally perfect for spring.

Such a great color on you! Sucks about the formula though, sometimes I get one that does that!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Heather! Guess it's just the luck of the draw sometimes. :P
DeleteYou captured this color so well! This is probably one of my favorite orly shades, too bad you got a bad one, because mine is flawless!
ReplyDeleteThanks bunches, Jennifer! Orly is usually such a reliable brand that I figured this was an anomaly. Glad you're enjoying yours too! :)
DeleteThis is so beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Ash!!
DeleteVery cheerful. I'm glad the topcoat helped you out this time. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I get so annoyed when I smudge my nail art with top coat, but sometimes it does come in handy! ;o)

ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI love it, and I have it and almost never wear it because of the formula... Yours and mine might be from the same batch, or other people got lucky ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, M! I'm prepared to put up with a little fuss when a colour is this awesome and am not really surprised to have to do a little extra work when a colour has a lot of yellow in it, but I'm sooo jealous of the ones who got this in "flawless formula" version. :P
DeleteIt looks really good :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! :D
DeleteLovely green! And it looks great on you :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much! ;)

DeleteI am a green polish lover...wearing green right now...so this color is right up my alley! I don't think I have anything in my stash that is close. Another addition to my wish list, another dent in my polish budget :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank you, Tina! Hope you find and enjoy this one. I have quite a few bright, lime greens, but this shade is just different enough to stand out in my collection as well. ^_^
