BornPrettyStore Cute Hearts Stamp

When Born Pretty offered to send me something new to review, I was instantly smitten with this adorable stamping plate, QA10. In my excitement, I kinda forgot that I'm not very good at stamping yet, but the only way to get better is with practice, right?

I love the pretty swirls and the different hearts on this plate, and every one that I tried transferred very well. Okay, they transferred well given my level of skill...I had no problem lifting them from the plate intact. Actually placing them smoothly is still a challenge for me, but that's why I enjoy using combination images like these, rather than having to place larger ones. I'm still not exactly in charge of the angle at which things land--or where they land, in fact--but the smaller images on this plate look so cute all mixed together that I didn't really mind my lack of precision.

I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff and then added some scrollwork and hearts in various shades of Konad stamping polish... which apparently needs more than half an hour to dry, at least for the black, because even with plenty of SV and a very light touch, it still managed to smear enough to show in these close-up pics. Not the plate's fault, though. Before my top coating went and smoshed it, the images were nice and crisp, and even after, they still looked great from any reasonable distance.

Soon as I'm able to stamp with more precision, I'm going to incorporate those long-legged chicks into something--they're just so sweet! I also think this will be a very versatile set of images--depending on the colours, you could go Valentine's, springtime, modern, even dark and ornate. This is definitely a plate I'm going to come back to again.

are we need special konad nail polish for stamp? or we can use regular nail polish? I never try this but I want >.<

    1. Stamping polish is much thicker than normal nail polish so that it can hold together and be opaque with just the little bit that you use for a stamp. Konad is the original, I think, but Born Pretty Store and others have their own stamping polishes too.

Many regular polishes are not going to work for stamping, but then some work just fine. If a regular polish takes a few coats to be opaque, then it's not going to stamp well. But if one coat of a polish is enough (or almost enough) to be opaque on its own, it will probably work okay with stamping.

    1. Really appreciate it, Kas! Thank you! Honestly, though, it's all down to having a design where being exact isn't a big deal, which I could totally do with this plate. Actually controlling where and at what angle I stamp is still beyond me. :P
