If you haven't been following, the fabulous Amanda challenged me to give purple a chance by devoting an entire week to it. In return, she's been spending this week in teal. This is the last day of our challenge, so I decided to finish on a high note with a great polish for the weekend, Deborah Lippmann Let's Go Crazy!
Like Candy Shop and Forget You, Let's Go Crazy incorporates Lippmann's oft-copied Happy Birthday rainbow glitter mixture, this time in a deep, eggplant-purple, jelly base. The glitter coverage didn't seem as dense here as with Forget You, but that's not a complaint by any means. There's still a generous amount of colourful glitter, and it's equally well suspended. I'm wearing two coats here over Revlon Colorstay Bold Sangria (a red-leaning purple) in order to a) save on this awesome polish, and b) provide extra coverage at the tips, where these jelly mixes sometimes appear a bit thin, but I've also seen it built up very nicely without any undies at all.
I do love
a nice, vampy shade of just about anything, and when you mix in rainbow
glitter and name it after an awesome song by the fabsexulous Prince, you've pretty much got me
sold. Well played, Ms. Lippmann. Well played indeed.
I'm downright giddy at the thought of wearing any old colour I want to again, but I have to concede that I'm much less averse to purple than I was at the start of this challenge. There are definitely shades I like more than others, such as the dusty plum of Below Deck, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved the bright, grape Dress Up 27 Suede, thanks to its amazing finish. Well played to you too, Amanda!
I've never seen this DL before - and wow, it sure is a stunner!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heather! This was a Nordstrom exclusive for a while when it came out, but it is on lippmanncollection.com. I got mine here in Hongkers. ;)
DeleteThis looks so deep and sparkly! Love it! X
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I really am impressed with how well DL gauges the jelly vs. polish ratio to get that effect!
DeleteYou really need to stop posting all these beautiful purples! I've been so good not buying polishes...
ReplyDeleteHahaha, thank you, Sam! Purple Week is over (phew!), but it won't be the last of the purples I post--Amanda has convinced me that this colour and I can actually get along. ;)
Deletethese is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lydz! :D
DeleteI think this is the best swatch I've see of Let's go Crazy. Most of the time the glitters look murky. I might actually want to buy it now.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jenni!! I think wearing this over undies helped with that because fewer coats of glitter made smoothing and shining with top coat a lot easier. Ooh, I could totally see this on you too! :D
DeleteLet's Go Crazy is really crazy full of glitter and so rich! :-)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?! Thank you, Tanja! ^_^
DeleteI've seen this swatched before on other blogs and not been impressed but you've made it look AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteAw, Rach! Thank you so much! I probably have to credit the undies for that. ;)
DeleteOMG! This is stunning! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much!!
DeleteThat was an easy one to love, Elizabeth! :D Just one more to go! You've done fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you, M! All done with Purple Week, but I'll definitely revisit the colour again from time to time. It was actually fun! :o)
DeleteThis is so fun and pretty! Purple looks fantastic on you, even if it's not your favorite color to wear. :P
ReplyDelete~ Yun
That's really sweet of you, Yun, thank you!!
DeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! :)
DeleteThis has been a really fun week, but yeah, I miss colors!
ReplyDeleteI am in total agreement, Amanda. Thanks for such a fun challenge!! ♥
DeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Meredith!! :D
