Kung Hei Fat Choi, everyone! 新年快樂! And for those of you who didn't hit up Google Translate like I just did, Happy New Year! Pretty much the whole town--the whole continent?--is decked out in red and gold right now for the lunar new year. It's easily Hong Kong's biggest holiday of the year, and Rach invited me to do some festive nails for the occasion for Sassy Hong Kong.
I think I'm physically incapable of resisting flower nail art if it's at all possible to apply it to a theme. Luckily, for CNY, designs just like this are everywhere! Signs, posters, door decorations, you name it. I also thought the traditional red and gold would make a great saran wrap manicure combination...
The article at Sassy HK includes tutorials for both of these looks, complete with step-by-step pics, tutorials I'm planning to re-create and post here as well.
Wishing everyone good health and good fortune in 2013, the Year of the Snake!
Great manicures! Love the first one especially! The flowers turned out really awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lindsey! This was actually the 2nd time I did the top manicure, both to have it on again today for actual CNY and to hopefully get a little better picture of it. Didn't mind doing it again, though--I think flower nails like that are probably my favourite manicures to do. :P
Deleteo0o0 I just love the shimmer in the China Glaze!! So pretty!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, KatXoXo! I should have mentioned above, that's China Glaze Classic Camel, from the 2010 Vintage Vixen collection. I love how well the golden shimmer translates to the nail! :)

ReplyDeleteThank you, Beautylicious! I wish the pictures of the saran wrap one had come out better, but I couldn't quite get the highly reflective, gold Zoya Ziv to behave for the camera this time. ;)
