Candy Cane Nail Art Tutorial

'Tis the season to deck the nails! Once again, Rach invited me to do some tutorials for Sassy Hong Kong, this time some nail art designs for Christmas. If you want to see the whole kaboodle, they're posted together under DIY Christmas Manis, but I'm going to take them one at a time here, starting with some fun and simple candy canes.

Step-by-step pics and easy instructions after the break!

Candy candy nails are easy to do if you have a nail art striper polish, or you could also do them with a thin art brush and either polish or acrylic paints. For mine, I used Revlon Fire red and my Orly striper polish in Crisp White.

Start with your base coat as usual, then paint your nails a bright red. When that's dry, use your striper to paint two diagonal lines across the middle of your nail.

Next, go back and fill in the space between the stripes to make one thick one, then add two more thin lines, above and below, a short distance away.

Skipping a larger space this time, paint the top and bottom corners of your nail as if they’re part of another larger stripe of white.

Repeat these steps on your other nails, let 'em dry, add a shiny top coat, and that’s all there is to it!

I'll be posting another of these Christmas nail art tutorials in just a couple of days. In the meantime there's just one day left to enter my 100th Post Giveaway...I'll be back then to announce the winner!
