The Hungry Asian Belle

I have been bitten by the indie bug, and hard. In the past couple of weeks my first orders of indie polishes have come in, and I've been giddy and giggling and wide-eyed with delight. There may have been some dancing of the goofy variety; I can neither confirm nor deny this. I knew exactly which polish I wanted to start with, though, because it shares my middle name.

This is Belle, by The Hungry Asian, and I love it.

The polish itself is so soft and pretty, but before I even saw it I was so charmed by packaging!

The Hungry Asian packaging
Everything was securely wrapped and padded and arrived quickly and in good condition, and the extra attention and care that Kae put into her shipment made me feel just like I was really unwrapping a present! I ordered this, Mint Condition, and Cookies & Cream, all of which I was so excited to finally get to try for myself, but because of the name, Belle went first.

The Hungry Asian Belle contains chocolate brown hexes and tiny, sparkling glitters in pink, suspended in a dreamysoft, jelly base. Given how stubborn my tips are about showing through light polishes, I swatched two coats over Essie Marshmallow, and I think they complimented each other nicely. I didn't want to harshen the base by wearing undies that were too starkly white, but next time I may actually go with an even paler polish underneath that's closer to my skintone. Or simply wear Belle on its own, but it could take me at least four layers before I stopped finding the white of my nails too distracting from the polish itself. I don't know why my tips are such obstinate attention-seekers, but I'm sure there's a self-referencing joke in there that I shall decline to make. ^_^

Belle applied smoothly and easily, and I had no trouble with the dispersal of the glitter. It was thinner in some places and thicker in others, just like "random" is supposed to be, and I like that they highlight and shine without either overwhelming or fading into the soft, white base. The glitter also lies smoothly as well; one coat of SV was all I needed.

If my other new polishes by The Hungry Asian are anything like Belle, I'm going to be very, very happy. To see/shop Kae's polishes, you can visit The Hungry Asian on Etsy.

    1. Thanks very much!! I'm really happy with this one as well. It's not as flashy as a lot of the other indie polishes, but that's kind of why I love it. It's just so unassumingly lovely. ;)

    1. Thank you, Sarah!! I love her too!! Belle was my great-grandmother's name, and I've always been happy to be named for her (she was a wonderfully strong and elegant lady). I was so excited when I heard there'd be a Disney princess with the name, especially one who loves to read! (^_^)
