Twinsie Tuesday: First Swap Polish

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is a polish from our first swap ever, and I have a gorgeously droolworthy one that I've been saving for just this occasion. I just wish my pics did it better justice because "in real life" it's downright fabsexulous.

Orly Mysterious Curse swatch

This is Orly Mysterious Curse, from the Dark Shadows movie collection, and it was given to me by Brandi just this summer in my first ever swap. She took a guess with this one, thinking I might like it, and dang, was she right.

Mostly deep purple, Mysterious Curse has the most incredible, blue sheen to it, iridescently duochrome, like an oil slick or an insect's wings. That sheen gives it the most amazing depth that my camera was just helpless to reproduce; seriously, this polish is utterly luminous!

Oh, and those brush strokes you can make out in the pics? Minimal in real life. And there is just a bit of shimmer, which adds to its captivating glow. The formula was a little thick, but it wasn't problematic at all--in fact, I prefer dark polishes like this to be on the thicker side because I have an easier time controlling their application (which means less time spent trying to clean up my cuticles).

Orly Mysterious Curse swatch

Orly Mysterious Curse is supposedly practically identical to, if not a re-release of, Orly Royal Velvet, so there's no need to have both in your collection. But if you haven't tried this one, next time you see it on a shelf, just pick up the bottle and check out that incredible purple-blue sheen. It's amazing.

In case you can't tell, Brandi, I love it! (^_^)

    1. They really are! The undertones are easily different enough to warrant having both, though. Like I'm so hard to talk into owning more polish. >_<

  16. I finally picked up something at a Sally's 50% off the 50% off sales they do and I never seem to get to the stores in time...but when this one went on sale I did get it...was the only thing out of that sale bin I picked up - they had a ton of the ChG Hunger Games polishes in the sale bin and I was kicking myself for having fallen into buying them when they first came out - I have only worn Riveting and only 2X - the rest sit in my untries.

    1. A lot of my Hunger Games polishes sat unried for a long time too until fall finally started to get here--some of those shades are perfect for this time of year!
