Revlon Popular

Revlon Popular is a delicate blend of pale silver hex- and micro-glitters in a semi-sheer, milky pink base. Another re-release, it originally called Starry Pink. It's also the 4th of the Revlon glitters in my giveaway, which closes in just under 12 hours!

Revlon Popular over OPI Pedal Faster Suzi!

I've seen lots of swatches showing Popular to be practically opaque in just two coats, but knowing how stubbornly visible my nail line insists on being if given half a chance, I knew I'd need at least four before I reached that point, so this is two coats of Popular over OPI Pedal Faster Suzi!, from the recent Holland Collection. The pairing makes it a little darker and maybe even the tiniest bit lilac, but I think it's in keeping with Popular's soft, delicate tone.

After trying these 4 Revlon glitters, I have my fingers crossed that they and other mainstream brands will continue to experiment in this area. I know they probably won't ever go as glitter-riffic as a lot of the indies--and I know it'd be overkill if they went all glitter all the time--but I think there's more than enough room for them to stretch out every now and then into some indie-adjacent territory (or at least keep making the occasional foray into Lippmann Land). After Popular, Scandalous, Whimsical, and Radiant, I'd love to see what they might come out with next!

  1. I actually prefer Popular to be layered over another color! The glitters seem to pop out more! Love the pairing :D

    1. Thanks, Jennifer! And I think you're right--it does pop a bit more with something underneath. :)

    1. Thank you, Jacqui! I like these two together too, and I only have about half a mini-bottle of Pedal Faster Suzi! left. I think I'll be getting a full one very soon!

  9. I think the same thing too, will we reach a point of glitter overkill? If so what is the next craze?

    1. I'm pretty confident that I will personally never, EVAR get sick of glitter, but much as I want to see more of them from the majors, I'd hate for them to go too far and flood the market. As for the next craze, it's kind of funny how hard they seem to jump on all the other bandwagons--crackle, magnetic, duochromes, it seems like everyone is doing those like mad these days!

    1. Thanks, Yun! I usually go for more POW in my glitters, but I really like the soft look of this one too. ;)

  11. I love how Popular looks over Pedal Faster Suzi! I think I might like it better like this than on its own, it keeps with Popular's tone like you said, and makes the glitter pop! So pretty!
