Twinsie Tuesday: Glassfleck Polish

I am so incredibly excited today for two great reasons! For one, Did My Nails just reached 100 followers, and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who's visited, commented, and even decided to follow since I started this blog. I'd still be doing it, even if it were just me sitting around talking to myself, going, "Ooh, remember that time I did that thing? Yeah, that was kinda cute...," but having you guys drop in makes it so very much more fun.

The second and bigger reason I'm ridiculously excited is that today is my first post for Twinsie Tuesdays! The women in this group are so friendly and talented, and I'm beyond thrilled to have been asked to join in.

Today's topic for Twinsie Tuesday is glassflecked polish, and the timing is great. Just a couple of days ago, while I was impatiently waiting for my Stateside nail mail to arrive, I stopped by Cher2 to see their new selection of Nubar, and just as I was about to check out, I spotted one last bottle of China Glaze Zombie Zest, sitting all by its lonesome on the rack...I snatched that puppy up with a quickness!

Zombie Zest is from the China Glaze Halloween 2010 Awakening collection. I've seen swatches on other blogs and totally fell in love, but I was so sure I'd missed it completely that I didn't even have it on my Wish List anymore. With a name that sounds like an ingredient in what might be the most horrifying cocktail ever, it's one of those ugly-awesome greens I can't help but love, especially when it has such amazingly sparkling glass flecks. They're nicely suspended too, much like the beautifully lush reds in China Glaze Ruby Pumps (which I almost wore today, but...zombies!).

In putting together my first Twinsie post, I was so tempted to try doing something fancy over this polish to try to make it extra special, but I think Zombie Zest looks great all by itself. Definitely not going to be a shade for everyone--in fact, I don't know that I'd like the shade by itself nearly as much without the glass flecks to give it its luminous sparkle--but even if you aren't as partial as I am to the look of possibly-haunted graveyard moss, it's a fabulous polish for Halloween. ^_^

Really looking forward to seeing what everyone else did for the theme today. Be sure to check out the other great Twinsie Tuesday blogs!

    1. Thank you so much, Amanda! I seem to have a new "thing" for fugly-pretties, and they're pretty much all greens...but the shimmery goodness on this one makes it a whole new flavour of awesome for me too.

    1. Yay! It really is awesome in person, isn't it? When I first put it on, of course the first layer is a lot lighter and thinner, but when it started layering up, I just looked at it like, "What the--? Oooooooh."

    1. Thank you so much, ChiChi! Yeah, even with my love of ugly-awesome greens, I don't know if I'd love it as just a colour, but I think the sparkly flecks give it a really unique and original look. :)

Hehe, I don't know if Zombie Zest actually looks "pretty" on anyone, but it's such a weirdly awesome little polish. ^_^

  15. I loooovee this polish! Reminds me of Orly It's Not Rocket Science, which is one of my all-time favorites! I am such a sucker for swampy greens. I hope you enjoyed your first TT post. It's awesome to have you with us! :)

  16. I like it! I think the glass fleck sparkles is what won me over. If it was just a cream color in the same shade, it would probably be too "ugly" green for me lol. :D

    1. Thanks, Yun! That's pretty much my feeling too--the colour by itself doesn't wow as much, but the shimmery flecks are amazing. :)

  17. I have not been a huge fan of this one in the past photos I saw. But now seeing yours, it's really caught my eyeballs! It's looking great on your skin tone. Like Yun said however, not sure it would not also turn to 'ugly' green on me!

    1. Aw, thank you very much! I think, considering the name, it's not really supposed to be that "pretty" a colour, but the flecks are amazing--and they're even more sparkling in person!
